JANUARY
"Are you considering taking a workshop this year? If so, I highly recommend setting a goal for that particular workshop. And I don't just mean "I want to generally get better!" Think of something specific, measurable, attainable and relevant to the class you are planning to take.
Here are a few examples:
* I'm not getting callbacks. I would like to walk away with 3 tips on how to make my auditions stand out to this casting director.
* I don't have representation. I want meet this agent and find out what I need to do to be one of their clients and ideally leave with their contact info.
* I need more practice. I want to meet 3 voice actors on my level that can join me in weekly vo workouts.
* I can't master my little kid voice. I would like to get feedback and 2 tips from this fellow working voice actor on how to sound younger. How do they do it?
Then, if appropriate, state this goal to the instructor before class during introductions. That way you are both on the same page with what you would like to accomplish over the next 3 hours. The instructor will be able to focus their feedback to your needs and you will feel like it was three hours well spent!"
